Paper Bridge and Column Construction

This proved quite challenging but turned out to be a very enjoyable learning experience for the 6th class boys involved.

First some bridges were built using no more than one or two sheets of A4 paper. Results were mixed but stronger structures were soon developed. When toy cars could no longer be crowded on to the bridges, Jenga blocks were used to test the load bearing capacity.

Next we tried to build paper columns to support as many blocks as possible.
